Brand New GIRL!

It's a little baby boom right now in the studio. Here's another brand new baby (6 days old). I've had such a good time this week with little ones. She was even willing to sleep for me and we were able to get some perfectly "squishy" poses. Babies don't pose like that after about 10 days; they start stretching out and won't sleep as readily.

We enjoyed having big sister in the studio as well. Sarah had a wonderful time playing. I love having a built-in playmate for siblings who come along to photo sessions. What WILL I do next year when she is in school all day?

The knit blanket here and the blue knit in Wednesday's newborn blog post are both new. I made them especially for these and future newborn sessions. I plan to keep my eye out for more unique yarns and may make some more. Additionally, all parents are encouraged to bring their own blankets!

I had fun selecting these sneak peek photos. I'm not sure which I like more - the sleeping poses or the one where she's sticking her tongue out. Enjoy!

Brand New BOY!

Hi everyone! It's been a busy week already. Two newborns, a 1st Birthday session, a 6 month-old and a few more to go. Here's a sneak peek from Monday afternoon's session. We had so much fun. It's been a while since I had a "brand new" infant and we were able to get all of my favorite squishy baby poses. (That's the number one reason for getting your baby in early for newborn portraits! Ten days or younger is the BEST!)

I had an enjoyable time catching up with this family too. They were referred by a current client, but it turns out that we have many other ties as well. I love those "small world" conversations. Since they were referred to me, they will receive a free 8x10 portrait and so will the family that sent them here! I really appreciate meeting friends of clients.

I'm sure no one wants to read more of my ramblings. I know there have been some blog visitors waiting to see these. Here you go...

9 Months and on the Move

Oh you've gotta love it when babies learn to get from one place to the other. This little girl was on the verge of walking. Staying in one place was not her to-do list. We had to give her things to touch and hold on to and we did a lot of playing. The Sesame Street saxophone is one of the best toys I have in the studio. I can hear that Cookie Monster voice in my head right now. LOL Hmmm, you'd think I still had a toddler in my family; I've mentioned Cookie Monster twice this week. Maybe I need to make some cookies.

Ok, back to the session below. My mom gave my oldest daughter a sailor dress when she was an infant and made the comment that "Every girl needs a little blue sailor dress". I agree. This one below was just adorable and it's a good thing she wore it for the 9-month session; she'll grow out of it before I see her again! The other dress pictured is one that the baby's mom wore as a girl. That's the sentimental portion of the portrait session. It will be fun for the family to pull out old photos and compare to these!

Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!

7 Weeks Old

I'm getting the wide-awake babies lately. This little guy wanted to know what was going on the entire time he was here! He and his parents had such great eye contact and he gives them smiles already. I had such an easy time photographing them (well all except ONE particular pose that took a little work. Ha ha!)

Once again, I had to get creative since he didn't want to do most of my traditional poses for this age. He did love my basket though. I think it's funny how many times I hear the words, "We should go buy a basket". Babies sure feel comfortable and secure in there!

Sorry to the family that this isn't a sneak peek. Life got the best of me these last few days. To the faithful blog readers, enjoy! Come back often. I have a couple of newborns coming up. One was just born two days ago and I haven't heard if the other one was born yet or not.

Don't forget to leave me a comment if you were here. I know that there are hundreds of readers (I see it in my web stats) but only a few leave me notes. Come on and make a girl happy. :)

Here ya go...

Thanks for visiting!

Birthday Boy Devours Cake

Meet another of the Baby Plan graduates! Congratulations on reaching the 1-year milestone. He was really anxious to get the cake. He knew we had a cake and he followed us around as we carried it (waiting for him to be ready for the photos). I knew I needed to be quick with my trigger finger, and boy was I right!

I've really enjoyed watching him grow this past year. I'm looking forward to creating his baby's first year album too. We've had some fun sessions that need documenting.

Oh and the climbing pose needs some explanation. I don't usually have little ones climb on my ladders. I put it there for him to stand next to it. He's a climber (obviously) so Mom let him stand there. He was safe and Mom was nearby!

Here's the cake-monster (think Cookie-monster and you'll know what it was like watching him tear into the cake). Big sister was a little sad there was nothing left for her.

Belated Valentine Wishes

I wanted to share my kid's Valentines. I had them printed as wallets and they gave them out with candy to their classmates. We had fun with our 2008 Valentine photo sessions with the girls. They really get into it now.

Since I had just done two sessions with Scott, I decided to just use one of those photos.

Here they are:

More phone woes

Well, it took 5 days, but we finally got our phone service back working mid-week last week. I'm sorry if you were inconvenienced. Hopefully I was able to get back in touch with everyone who could not get through on the home or office number.

Then, as if on clue, Wednesday afternoon, my cell-phone stopped working. I did get a new one, but I lost many of my saved phone numbers. Call my cell when you get a chance so that I can re-save your phone number!

I guess I should run to the store and purchase new cordless phones - they are next on the list. I wonder how long I have until they break! Ha ha!!!

Phone/DSL needs repair

Just a quick note to let you know that there's something wrong with my phone line (AGAIN). It's affecting my phone connection mostly, and DSL intermittently. If you need me, please call on the cell phone. I am able to call into voice mail from my cell phone, so you may also leave a message.

If I don't answer my email, that's why. I've submitted another repair ticket and hopefully the problem will be fixed soon.

Thanks,

Karen

Love those well fed babies

Well, this was just such an enjoyable session. We had to go to "plan B and C and D" a couple of times, but I'm just thrilled at how the images turned out. Sometimes when babies don't do what **I** want them to do, I am forced to get creative and find new favorite poses! The sideways basket shots are examples of new favorites and a result of this little princess posing the way SHE wanted to! Great job, little girl. :)

I really loved the black and white and sepia tones from this session. There was just something about her skin tone and the lighting that really made them look especially nice.

Oh and another thing about my job. I just love it when I find connections with my clients. Thanks for humoring me and chatting (to all you!). It's amazing how small the world can get when you get to know people and their connections. I found out this family and mine have a lot in common. I'm looking forward to seeing you around!

Well, enough chatting, huh! I'd better get this sneak peek online. Here she is!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Birthday Boy!

Meet another "graduate" from the baby plan. I'm happy to know he'll be back for his 18 month portraits. I get sad thinking I won't get to see some of "MY" babies again for a while. Wow, it seems like just yesterday he was fighting us; not wanting his 3-month photos taken.

He's turned into such a fun little boy. I just love his happy personality. Dad sure can get him laughing!

Thanks for letting me be part of your family this past year! Enjoy this little blog tease. Your gallery will be a few more days.

Here he is... the cake-loving birthday guy:

Website restored

My apologies to those who tried to access my website last night and early this morning. The problem has been fixed. I still would love to know how the problem came about, but I will probably never learn the reason. Thanks to good directions from my hosting company, I was able to restore permissions for you view the jpg images. I am however suspect of them for messing it up in the first place.

Well, it's time to figure out what we're going to do with all this white stuff covering our part of the world. :) My kids are itching to get out and build snowmen and snowballs.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.
